experience sipa from wok in, malate
Sipa is a type of dimsum popularly produced on site by Wok In, a family restaurant right beside Malate Church. It is a fried delicacy filled with 95% meat and the rest are vegetables. As far as my Chinese cravings take me, no other restaurant offered this kind of loyalty (or my addiction) to its customers. A set of 6 pieces can be ordered and cooked on the spot for only PhP80.00 and rice is purchased separately with a cup costing about PhP25.00.
In my own observation, their food is 400% faster than Chowking and that isn’t exagerrating much as waiting time is as speedy as 30seconds to 1minute (Promise!). Their food is fresh, as a customer may approach the counter and pick among the produce selection of meat, poultry, sea food and vegetables. If your lucky, you might see an inventive recipe that will cost only between PhP150.00-PhP250.00 per viand. Single orders of meat or vegetables can be as low as PhP80.00 while combination of meat and vegetables can cost as high as PhP180.00. However, selection of how you will cook these produce is limited.
I can never count how many times I’ve eaten here but every time I did, I will be recounted with the historical background and business tactics of the restaurant. The restaurant is a family business tied up with a Cafe located beside its spot. It also offers profit sharing with its employees, the secret ingredient other than sipa that makes this business venture go for years.
Our best bet for this restaurant is sipa, buttered chicken, and stuffed squid.
