Along with SiteMeter, another website statistic tool I use is Google Analytics. I don’t open Analytics as often as SiteMeter, and I mainly set it up for my blogs as a back-up.
Advantages:
Steps To Setup Google Analytics on your Blog
1) Go to the Google Analytics website. http://www.google.com/analytics
2) If you have signed up for Adsense already or GMail, I suggest that you just use that account.
3) After signing up, go to the lower left corner of the Analytics Home page and click on Add Website Profile >>.
4) Input your URL and choose Philippines for the time zone.
5) Obtain the Analytics code and copy it over to your blog. If you’ve set up SiteMeter already, copy the code right after the SiteMeter code. It should start tracking immediately.
Notes: Analytics is not real-time. Usually, it will display statistics for the previous day. The interface, although powerful, is a little overcrowded and can be overwhelming. It also does not have any buttons or icons displayed on your site, which could be a good or bad thing. Good because you might want to hide your web statistics to your visitor, and bad, because it is not easily accessible(and it’s a long procedure in case you want others to view your stats). As I’ve said, I only use it to verify SiteMeter’s data, and from experience, they always seem to agree in any day.
